What to Wear on a Resort Vaca: Part 1

It's the dead of winter, and I'm not thinking about snow angels or hot coco by a crackling fire. Nope! I'm dreaming of warm sand beaches and aqua marine water... If you're planning a getaway week or weekend to a tropical place, this post is for you.

Partnering with my friends at Seek Wander Share, an online boutique curating stylish and social goods perfectly suited for island life, I'm excited to announce a new three part series on What to Wear on a Resort Vaca. If you're lucky enough to break away for a warm weather trip this winter or spring, this is a series you won't want to miss!

The first look is all about being comfortable and stylish as you roam around town and do some sightseeing or shopping. My absolute favorite thing to do is wander around a new place and see where the path leads me. No agenda. No expectations. Just openness to discovery. What's your favorite part about being on vacation?

Morticia Adams

I've never been one to 'celebrate' Halloween, but I will admit that some of those classic movies and characters that seem to make a comeback each year hit the spot. From BeetleJuice to Death Becomes Her, and The Adams Family, I have fond memories of staying up late with friends during sleepovers and scheming costumes to trick or treat in. Fast forward to today and I find myself taking fashion cues from the icons- among them Morticia Adams. Though, not a literal translation into a costume, I was excited to create a modern look inspired by Morticia.

I suppose all I would need to take this from an everyday outfit to 'Rad Costume' status is a pair of heels, white body paint, eyeliner (for eyes and eyebrows) and some lipstick. Hmmm, maybe I will indulge in the make-believe of Halloween after all... Hope you all have a fun and safe one!

Call Me Cowgirl

Sometimes you need to go back to your roots. Mine are of a certain western flair beneath the breathtaking mountains known as the Grand Tetons in a little town called Jackson Hole, WY. Growing up I knew this place was special, and I knew I would need to spread my wings and travel elsewhere to experience the diverse and wondrous people and places this planet has to offer. Yet, coming back home always feels so good. The beauty hits you straight away, but I think it is the people and undercurrent of respect we all hold for this place that really makes it unique.

Speaking of good people, I connected with SF transplant Cole Buckhart (with a name like that you HAVE to live in Wyoming!) and we decided to do a casual shoot to capture some of the Jackson vibe. The great thing about Jackson is that although it is a ski resort town, and a tax haven for many a millionaire, it is Country! Cowboy hats, duck tape keeping down jackets in tact, and boots fit for swing dancing are de rigueur 'round these parts.

This post is a little different than what you normally see from me, but it is a part of who I truly am and am proud to always be... a Wyoming girl.

Black, White & Leather

The shirt dress is a staple for fall fashion, but not in the way you're thinking... Instead of wearing it buttoned up and belted, the new look is to wear it as more of an open jacket. I'm loving this layer and how it adds a little something extra to the outfit.
