The Sun Also Sets

I feel like the Universe has been trying to deliver a message to me lately... Well, one message with two parts. The first part is that change is constant in life. And, as I am learning, change is an agent for growth. Change can be scary and hard, and sometimes even painful when we are experiencing loss, but it wouldn't exist in this world if it didn't serve a purpose. That purpose is to fuel our growth- as friends, lovers, family members, leaders, inventors, etc. To get us to look inside and introspect and to also adapt as we reach for our dreams. The second part is that in order to embrace change we have to be willing to leave things and people who no longer serve us behind. It isn't because they are bad or wrong, it is just because we are entering into a new stage where we may need new resources and experiences to keep growing and evolving. I find it very hard to let go. I always have. So this is my current test. To embrace change and with it allow for past comforts to fade away. As they say, onward and upward!

She's Gone Country

This September I returned to Wyoming, and I returned to myself. I forgot how good it feels to take a walk on a back country road and listen to the leaves rustle in the wind. I forgot how broke down trucks make the scene complete. And I forgot how important it is to take your shoes off and connect to the earth.

Lately, I'm trying hard to stay in the present moment. I'm not sure if it is our current culture and obsession with success, goals and plans, but I'm finding it challenging. Can anyone else relate? Contentment is another word that comes to mind. I try to practice being content where I am. It isn't easy. I'm a driven person and have so many ideas and dreams. Yet, I'm beginning to wonder if the key to happiness is the balance between striving for what you want in life while also enjoying where you are all along the way. Is that possible? I'd love to hear what you guys think. Do you have ways of practicing contentment or staying in the present moment?

Call Me Cowgirl

Sometimes you need to go back to your roots. Mine are of a certain western flair beneath the breathtaking mountains known as the Grand Tetons in a little town called Jackson Hole, WY. Growing up I knew this place was special, and I knew I would need to spread my wings and travel elsewhere to experience the diverse and wondrous people and places this planet has to offer. Yet, coming back home always feels so good. The beauty hits you straight away, but I think it is the people and undercurrent of respect we all hold for this place that really makes it unique.

Speaking of good people, I connected with SF transplant Cole Buckhart (with a name like that you HAVE to live in Wyoming!) and we decided to do a casual shoot to capture some of the Jackson vibe. The great thing about Jackson is that although it is a ski resort town, and a tax haven for many a millionaire, it is Country! Cowboy hats, duck tape keeping down jackets in tact, and boots fit for swing dancing are de rigueur 'round these parts.

This post is a little different than what you normally see from me, but it is a part of who I truly am and am proud to always be... a Wyoming girl.

Everything's Coming Up Roses

Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day? Fashion rules are meant to be broken and with summer seeping into September, why not indulge in summer style a bit longer? I paired my shirt dress from Reve en Vert with my favorite skirt from Svilu for this beautiful breezy look.

Black, White & Leather

The shirt dress is a staple for fall fashion, but not in the way you're thinking... Instead of wearing it buttoned up and belted, the new look is to wear it as more of an open jacket. I'm loving this layer and how it adds a little something extra to the outfit.
