Eco-Outfit: Summertime Stripes

Nina Garcia wrote in her book The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own: "The striped sailor shirt is one of those items that embodies French chic." She also insists that every woman should own at least one. I couldn't agree more. What I love about stripes is something Nina identifies- their ability to keep an outfit cool and casual while still adding an element of style. Totally French chic.

Eco-Outfit: Call Me Cactus Lover

When the slip dress trend came back into style, I did not see myself joining in. That was before I discovered Averti- a LA-based brand that creates silky silhouettes that give you a whole new kind of confidence. Eco-Outfit: Moto Girl

Leather and denim is such a classic 'cool kid' combo. It never goes out of style. Though I wouldn't ride a motorcycle in a mini skirt (long pants are a must!), I did feel this look paired nicely with the moto theme of my backdrop. 

Sporting a leather mini skirt is tricky business. I find you need to balance it perfectly with other low maintenance pieces. A good rule of thumb is to pair short skirts (shorts and dresses) with flats. Go for a platform flat if you want a little added height.

Eco-Outfit: Lady in Black

I've absolutely fallen in love with the separates from Averti. Pairing a long slip dress with a cropped silk tee wasn't something I would have normally thought to do, yet it works so well! What I love most is because they are separates and not a dress, the outfit can take on a more casual feel- which usually suits my mood- while still allowing for a pulled together and complete look. Brilliant.

Eco-Outfit: Crop it to Me

The cropped top trend has been around for a few seasons now, but finding the right level of crop in the right material makes all the difference in feeling confident and cool instead of like an Anime character. I was consciously moving away from the crop top (I already have a few options in my closet and felt I didn't need to further explore this trend), yet when I pulled on the cropped sweater from Averti my whole perspective on how I could look and feel in a crop top changed.

The cut of this sweatshirt is so flattering and has that 'cool girl' feel without trying too hard. I found I wanted to wear this top with EVERYTHING! Paired here with jeans you can see what an easy wearable piece it is, but I could see myself layering it over a slip dress or overalls too. I also tried out the chocker trend with a clean and minimal piece from Muses & Rebels, and was again surprised by how much I loved it. I guess that goes to show, you just don't know what you don't know... until you try it.

DAY TO NIGHT 

Take this outfit from day to night by adding a statement belt and a pair of ankle booties with a heel.

We added this belt from B-Low The Belt, and I looked into their ethics as best I could. I do know they manufacture in China and use real leather. I don't know where that leather comes from or if it is treated with chemical or natural dyes... so please take the use of this belt in this post as a styling prop and not an item I am actually promoting. I hope to find an eco alternative to list in the future.
