What to Wear on a Resort Vaca: Part 3

Winter is in full force, and although I love the cooler temps and the many layers, a mid-January trip to a tropical locale has me daydreaming. If you are lucky enough to have an upcoming trip on the calendar (what a way to start 2017!) I hope you will find my series on What to Wear on a Resort Vaca helpful. Part three is all about what to wear to dinner. If you missed parts 1 & 2, you can check them out here, and here

In hot climates, you wear next to nothing all day- just to stay cool. So dinner is a special time to show off your style and take things up a notch. Remember, you're on vacation so stick to flat sandals and little makeup to hold onto your relaxed vibe. Jewelry and a statement clutch, like the one featured here from Seek Wander Share, add a little something extra without trying too hard.

I hope you've enjoyed this series and that it comes in handy as you pack for your any warm weather getaways in your future. Please share your own outfit picks and tips in the comments below. xx

Eco-Outfit: That '70s Girl

They say that death and taxes are two things of which you are can be certain. I would add the cycling of fashion trends. We all knew that the '70s would make a comeback, and I for one, was happy to embrace a little love child flair. This dress (styled as a top) from Amour Vert set the tone, and I dug out my bell bottom jeans (from seriously 10 years ago!) and paired them with a platform wedge. Beaded drop earrings and touch of au naturel makeup from Juice Beauty finished off this modern hippie look.

ARC RING, #handmade #artisanmade #fair #madeinIndia

Long have I been a fan of Juice Beauty. I remember when I first met founder Karen Behnke at Aspen Fashion Week! It is so wonderful to see how this plant potent line has grown and I was overjoyed to learn about their new phyto-pigments makeup line.

Delivering more color and staying power without sacrificing any purity, the phyto line is a huge step in the right direction for natural beauty. The foundation was a little light (in coverage) for me. I feel like I would rather wear a tinted moisturizer if I am going that light, but it does pack a punch when it comes to skin nourishment, acting more like a serum than a foundation. The cream blush is very creamy and build-able. The lip color is so natural and perfect for adding a slight enhancement to a 'no-makeup makeup' look. The shimmery eye crayon doubles as a highlighter for your cheeks and cupid's bow. And the mascara is fab!

Juice Beauty Makeup

For my barely there makeup look, I used the cream shadow stick in Pale Gold across my lids, on my brow bone, cheekbones and cupid's bow. Eyes were finished with a quick curl and coat of mascara. I warmed the cream blush in Nude Beige on my finger and patted it along my cheekbone, starting at the apples and working out towards my ears. I lined my lips with the luminous lip crayon in Nude Beige and filled in the rest using the crayon as a lipstick. Et, voila! So easy, and so natural.

Eco-Outfit: London's Reve en Vert Style in Malibu

I first met the Reve en Vert (REV) girls around 2010- which feels like a lifetime ago. Long before they started REV, we were all connected by this desire to be fashionable yet ethical in our wardrobe choices. With luxury fashion backgrounds, we hit it off right away. When they launched REV as a fashion-forward and ethically-focused boutique I was overjoyed! And over time, they have kept their promise on both fronts- delivering some of the best (mostly European) labels with eco cred.

So, when they approached me to style some of their pieces into my eco-outfit looks, I felt like I'd won the lottery! Based in London, REV definitely has a more European style aesthetic, but that is something I am very comfortable with (having lived in London for two years). In fact, most of my wardrobe is well suited for Europe, and it has been a challenge to adjust to the laid back Cali style. Luckily, I feel I hit a nice, wearable balance with this look. Initially I was concerned I would be way overdressed for Malibu, but on a date night this look is perfect and fit right in. I do think the skirt being a knit helped soften the look, while the booties made it a little more cool and less 'done' than if I had worn heels.

I also recently learned about  a local LA-based brand called Colour Pop which produces some amazing hues for lipgloss, nail polish and eye shadow. My favorite part is their commitment to being vegan and cruelty-free. The color I wore for this shoot is called 'Sting Raye' and it stayed on all day! Loved the matte finish too.

Eco-Outfit: All Ruffled!

Pair a jumpsuit with ruffles and some off-the-shoulder action and I'm on board! I LOVE everything about this piece- especially the versatility. With flats and a hat you're good to go for some beach time or an outdoor Saturday brunch. Add heels and jewelry and its the perfect #dressedupnotdressedup outfit.
